Almost ready for first fish...what should I get?

Hi my 46 bowfront reef is all setup and almost done cycling. I'm starting to think about my first fish. I of course want a couple small clown's and am pretty sure they will be my first fish unless they would not be a good choice to start with. Will two clown's be ok to start with or would there be another better choice?

Are you using a QT?

+1 if not, then the most correct answer would be a QT, rather than a fish.

Regardless, you should make a 'stocking list' of all the fish you would like to keep in your tank. It will help you to understand if the clowns are a good addition. Fish should be added in order of least aggressive to most aggressive. If you don't know what you plan to keep, just adding a fish can limit your choices later.

I don't have a qt tank but have pretty much all I need to do it except the tank. I will get one going and cycled before any fish. I've been so focused on getting the equipment setup I've slacked on figuring out all the fish I want so I'm going to look into that more. Thanks for the advice all

I think starting with your clown pair is a fine idea. That's what I did. Unless you're doing a very aggressive species. I'd go ocellaris. So many neat hybrids these days. I love my nakeds. Good luck.
