Alveopora

When I bought my Goni about a year ago, the general consensus was that they were somewhat difficult to keep. Mine started off a bit retracted, but when I finally found a spot with a bit less flow and medium-ish light, it stretched out and grew fairly quickly. It looked very healthy and was probably a bit over 12" around when outstretched, but, this past weekend we went to Indianapolis to visit some friends and came back yesterday morning to find my seemingly healthy Goniopora completely dead...devoid of any flesh whatsoever. So, I guess mine is a testament to just how touchy they can be. I still have no idea what happened, as my tank perams haven't gone out of wack.

Alve

Had gotten a alveopora over a month ago and the coral extension wasn't great but it was alive. so a week or so later i moved it off the substrate and 6 inches closer to the lighting (t5) however the extension was still minimal. Next and completely unrelated my nitrates went up to 10 ppm so i found an article online about Vodka dosing lowering nitrates and on day 2 of dosing vodka my Alveopora Sprang to life and man oh man is it amazing how .2 ml of Vodka has such an effect and my nitrates also decreased by 50% by day 2.

Thoughts ? Concerns? Tips?
