Am I crazy?

I have a 480g predator tank, a 145g reef tank and a 30g QT.

I recently purchased a Clown Trigger - a really beautiful specimen. However after 10 hours in my predator tank he was just a bit too much for my poor inhabitants (comet, green brittle star, naso tang etc).

But I do not want to take him back - he is really intelligent and a very cool pet. So I am considering buying him a species tank.

Am I crazy?

:D I've always wanted a trigger tank, I just need a bigger house to put the tank in!

Go ahead, get another tank, what's a couple hundred more gallons to take care of?

It is more than just that. I'd have to get rid of my urchins, green brittle stars, serpent stars, hermit crabs...

Let me post what I currently do have in the 480g tank, then tell me what creatures would have to go.

Serpent stars
Green brittle star
Turbo snails
Hermits
Urchins

Naso tang
Twin spot coris
bird wrasse
comet
foxface
tassled filefish
zebra moray
snowflake eel
panther grouper

colt coral
leather coral
zoanthids
mushrooms
star polyps
yellow polyps

sea cucumber

wow, ok then, simply get a new tank for the clown trigger, unless you don't mind him eating most of those inverts, which he would like! and possibly harrassing the fish to no end, ... whichever is easier for you to live with, lol

Why would you buy a new fish that you knew wouldn't be a suitable inhabitant in your tank....? Just doesn't make much sense to me...

I too love the way the triggers look... I knew a clown would wipe out my cleaning crew and my other fish.... So do I get one..>???

Wouldn't your question have been better asked PRIOR to purchasing the Clown Trigger???

I have done considerable research and saw that many individuals are peaceful and some are aggressive. I observed this fish in the LFS and over a period of 3 weeks it did not appear interested in any other fish around it at all, so I hoped it would be more peaceful.

I knew that I had alternate options should it not work out. Currently he is back in my QT tank. I buy fish only when I know I can care for it. I never said "oh now I have a problem - there is nothing I can do".

Any case - what is wrong with knowing you want a clown trigger, hoping it would be a peaceful individual in the 480g community predator tank, but if it does not work out that way you *care enough* to buy him his own tank??????
