Am I screwed?

I just moved into a new apartment and there are no GFCI in the apartment except in the bathroom? What should I do? Becuase it's an apartment that won't replace the socket(I think) unless its broken kind of thing. So Can I just use a high end surge protector? Please I need a little help here.

No you're not screwed... You can buy GFCIs that plug into a regular outlet, just like a short extension cord type thing...

yes you can, any hardware store should have them.
