Am I seeing things? Order#68428

Besides the mixed comments in this forum, I went ahead and ordered from Aquacave. Sometimes mistakes happen, and I am a trusting person.

Aquacave shipped super fast. I received my Lumatek ballast within a couple days. Apparently drop shipped from Sunlight Supply. Soon after another box arrived with my 250HQI reflectors and a power cord. I was impressed at the speed.

Today I got the last shipment... what I saw didn't look like a simple mistake.

Am I seeing things? I'd like someone who ordered these products to look at my pictures and tell me I got the right parts. Sure as heck doesn't look like it.

First Item:

DOW Filmtec 75gpd membrane (RO-AFx-ROM-75).
This is what I ordered per the website, and as noted on my invoice:
http://www.aquacave.com/dow-75-gpd-reverse-brosmosis-membrane-3140.html

***I was instead shipped a budget Valuetrex RO membrane (VX-TW30-75D). Not a DOW Filmtec product. There IS a difference.

Second Item:

36" SLR T5 Reflector by Ice Cap.
This is what I ordered per the website, and as noted on my invoice:
http://www.aquacave.com/icecap-slr-t5-reflectors--brby-ice-cap-1851.html

***I was instead shipped what could possibly be Aquatinics reflectors. NOT the Ice Cap reflectors. Which is what I ordered.

Ok. Those definitely are NOT 'icecap' reflectors, and that definitely isn't a Dow Filmtec membrane. This is not what I ordered. That valuetrex membrane certainly isn't even advertised on the Aquacave website. Highly dubious if you ask me.

I had a very positive view on things until this last package arrived. I truly hope Aquacave isn't practicing Bait and Switch sales tactics... as that in of itself would open a huge can of worms.

Did u try calling them about the wrong items being shipped? The ice cap reflector could have been wrongly shipped because there is no more ice cap. Hopefully this gets fixed for you.

Best of luck

I sent them an email this evening, and gave them a link to this post. I just got the package when I got home a few hours ago. I ordered from their website. If they no longer sell Icecap reflectors, they should not be listed on their website. It should not be listed on my invoice, and they should not have charged for, nor shipped me a different product without consulting me first.

Gary,
We started caring Valuetrex membranes few months ago when we switch to new RO products supplier. We are using these on our systems with great results without noticeable reduction in output or water quality comparing to other brands. I will contact our IT guys to update the picture on our website to reflect the change.
When it comes to reflectors, last year IceCap removed flares from their reflectors to allow for closer placement of lamps. Inside width of the reflector was not affected by this change. This allows end user to fit more lamps within given space without reduction in output. Picture on our website shows older version of IceCap reflector. I will make sure it will also be updated to reflect the change in design.
Aquactinic reflectors look very similar except they are narrower at 2" in width comparing with 2 3/4" IceCaps.
If for any reason you would like to return any of the mentioned items please email or call us and we will be happy to send you return label.

Thank you for the clarification. For the sake of simplicity I will keep what I received. I specifically purchased the Dow Filmtec membrane because I preferred that make over others as it is established and proven, so that does bother me still.

Interesting as there is little to no information out there on the Valuetrex membranes. They look nearly identical to the Filmtec, down to the identical blue color. Heck, they may even be the same membrane, but a generic.

Out of curiosity, is there a spec sheet for the membrane?

Thanks.
