Am I smoking crack?

I just picked up some Salifert Mag Powder.

My Mag tests at 1200 ppm.

I'm trying to figure out how much Salifert Mag to add. Acording to the directions 1 beaker bumps the Mag by 300 ppm in 2.5 gal of tank water.

I guestimate my tank holds 80 gallons of actual water (120 tank with sump).

Assuming I want to bump the Mag by 300 ppm, I would have to add 32 beakers (more than a 500 ml container). I plan to spread out the dosing over several days in top off.

I've done the math several times. Does this sound right?

According to the Reef Chemistry Calculator your calculations are actually low for raising Mg 300 ppm in 80 gallons of water using Salifert Liquid Magnesium. The calculator kicked back just over 3600 ml dosed over a minimum of 3 days. Thats about a gallon or so of Salifert Liquid Magnesium in total.

How can you have a title to a thread like that and not have a Y/N poll so people can respond. I vote yes, you are smoking crack... right now I bet. And not that street stuff either... you got the pure stuff right off the boat I bet.

MG

MG

It does take alot of MG to change levels, I use mag flake (have a 25kg bag) it took 6-7 beer jugs full to raise to the level I wanted in my 200g system.

Made my beer taste funny too :D

I agree. Crack and math go hand in hand. Don't burn your thumb on the pipe though. Not that I would know....

mexican black tar? isnt that what its called?

Everyone knows that if you want the best crack, then you have to buy it from Whitney Houston.

And yes, it does take a lot of magnesium to raise your levels. I have to add about 100mL of Randy's MAGflake/epsom salt recipe to my 55 gallon tank about once a week to keep it around 1300ppm.
