AM thanks!

Thanks Mark, Russell, Trent, Trey, and Jeff(?) (sorry, I'm terrible with names) for hosting and providing a wonderful meeting location. You guys have been very supportive and I for one really appreciate all you do for me and the hobby. Hopefully we can put the formalities behind us and get back to what we all enjoy doing now, reefing!

If Jeff is unavailable (he was first in line to host and a good friend, so I don't want to steal his thunder) to host next month, I'll put my name in the hat. If you're patient enough to hang around until your "turn" comes up I'll try to offer a free frag to a few lucky attendees (your choice, within limits and Barb's "approval" LOL, no scolys, sorry). I might offer many LE/AE/Tyree corals that might bust your wallet if you purchased them online, so strings attached, no return favors expected. We'll do it "live" and frag everything type of coral known to the reefing community, so stay for the educational aspect if nothing else. Bring your own mounting disk/rubble/plug, whatever your preference. I probably won't be able to go "all out" with the food as I've done in the past but I'm sure we can arrange for something. We're a bit out of the way but I'll try and make sure everyone enjoys themselves. Whoever is running the show just LMK.

Can we have a late afternoon or early evening meeting this time? It's been two nooners in a row.

I can't thank all of you at Aquatic Marine enough for your generous hospitality. I thouroughly enjoyed the venue, food, and especially Mark's very informative and professional presentaition.

It was so great to welcome our new members Brent and Melissa, Michelle and Kent, James, and Spencer at the meeting.

The club certainly is blessed to have so much support from both Aquatic Marine and The Coral Reef and Sustainable Aquatics. It is genuinly appreciated.

thanks AM! and particularly Mark. Excellent demo on sump building...tho most of it was way over my head. :)

i really enjoyed meeting all the new guys too, welcome!!

dave, jeff is having company from out of town the May meeting week, so we'll plan for his place another time that's more convenient. your place sounds great to me, tho, its richard's b-day and i have big secret plans in the works and won't be able to attend...i'll have to get out there to see the tank on my own one of these days!

mel, shouldn't be a problem, but it'll be up to dave's availability ultimately. we had to do noon today because that's what was good for the host...and 3p was the best we could do for last month since it fell on "jam" nite.

I must say thanks also. Thanks for the hospitality, food, informative talk on sumps. You folks at Aquatic Marine really showed us that the club is important to you. I now know who will be the official expert on sump and plumbing - well for me anyway. Mark, you might have done something you will be sorry for later.

I will say yes also to Dave's house for the next meeting (May 15th). Dave, as the host and as usual, can pick the time and food menu. I like burgers, but I am kind of simple and easy to please if you stay plain. No cheese for me, please. :fun4:

I would say that swap planning might be a good club business topic.

Everybody still wants to do the swap, I hope.

Paul, I will sure miss you. Thanks for coming to the meeting today.

Hey, if you folks can spare a 5 gallon bucket or two, send Paul a PM. He needs several for his upcoming move. Thanks

Today's meeting was, I hope, a success. I hope everybody enjoyed their time. A little too much business than I would have wanted, maybe. And, certainly more than we will normally have. The meeting was another example of how blessed East TN Reef Club is. We have two LFS that support the club (Aquatic Marine and Coral Reef). Matt and his parents could not have been any more supportive also (Sustainable Aquatics). Thanks to all three.

Mel, LMK what a good time would be for you. I'm flexible and can change the lighting cycle so everyone can enjoy the tanks. I haven's seen you in ages so it would be good to shoot the bull again and get your first-hand perspective on things.

I tried to offer suggestions at the meeting today that would diplomatically represent all interests. Hopefully we accomplished this. I don't really have a horse in this race and want to do whatever is reasonably necessary to promote harmony and unity, not see the club splinter. It was unfortunate that some of our new members had to particpate in today's painful business, but hopefully that is behind us and the resulting outcome is to everyone's satisfaction. When I was president I wanted the club to present more learning opportunities, esp. for new reefers, and sought out a more structured format, but I quickly came to realize that we had to strike a balance. After contemplating this for awhile (during which time I was quite inactive in the club) I have come to the realization that all parties need to be represented and feel the club can accommodate all interests. Perhaps it was a bit inmature on my part but the time away did help me come to terms with the dichotomy. I'm not trying to play the part of mediator but do want to see a resumption of the cohesion that the club was known for in the past. Now it is time to return to what seems to be what most people want out of the club, reef discussions and fellowship.

Dave

thanks to AM for hosting the meeting! Also, welcome to the new members. The sump demonstration was very informative - got me tinkering with my setup this morning. Good to see everyone and it looks like the club is heading in the right direction. Just don't get bogged down in the details and enjoy the hobby.

Dave, that's very gracious of you. I will definitely try to be there.

If the meetings start at 6-7 I can usually get away a bit early from the store.

I don't think that things should specifically revolve around me as far as time of meeting goes but I just thought it was a good idea to have a switch each month from early to late. Over the years numerous people have asked if we could do that and it never really took hold. Maybe I'm selfishly trying to promote it now that I'm the one who works all day on the weekends but I'm really hoping we keep sticking to it! hah hah.

Mel, you're making it sound like there's a specific intent not to have evening meetings. Not so. You know whenever it's time for a meeting it's like pulling teeth to get someone to commit to host, then it's been a what's the best time for the host or when can the most people attend decision. I'd like to see some evening one's but not be tied into a every other one .

Janie, If we keep getting new members, that "pulling teeth to get someone to commit to host" may not be a problem. It may be that we will have to ask some of the regulars to let a new person host. What a great problem.

No, I'm not.

You're reading into everything I say and do lately. Try assuming I mean positive things rather than negative things and maybe it will seem differently.

I should say that you're radically MISreading into everything I say and do...

Oh and I'll host any time we need a meeting place. Everyone knows that.

Oh Dear, Mel, there seems to be a lot of MISreading on both sides. I know you have offered your place for meetings, but you're so busy you don't have time for yourself. I think it would be an imposition to expect you to do more than you already do.
I gather you got my email.

We'll comprimise for 6:30 and if you want to be fashionably late that's fine. We can do a light dinner or something along those lines. I can't go much past 9:00 though.

I can bring my sons' Nerf swords to the meeting if we need to settle any open matters. :p
Beware - catfight!
