Amazing sight

Last night I witnessed something pretty darn amazing.

I had shut down my 220 lights and turned on the moon lights at 11 pm. I went down an hour later just to check things and I saw one of my peppermint shrimp(1 of 12) struggling to swim to the surface . When it did, it released this explosion of tiny white particles which turned out to be babies. I quickly turned on the lights and the entire tank was teeming with them. My fish started having a feast so I turned off all filters for the night and lights just trying to give them a chance to make it into the live rock.

This was an amazing site to witness nature at its finest hour and reaffirms why we love this hobby so much. From what I have read, it is unlikely any will survive the filters and hungry fish...

Wow that's cool. Is there a benefit for having a cleaner shrimp? I kind of like them and don't at the same time because they are big lol.

It is really amazing sight.I happened to witness one of my sally lightfoot crab do the same thing a week or so ago.Guess ya gotta be at the right place at the right time.

Cleaner shrimp? Big? I have one in my 12g and 3 in my 55g - a skunk pair and a blood.

I love them, so awesome to watch.

Good luck on your babies.. it can happen where they come to full fledged little shrimplings but rarely!

So cool. I've been running salwater for about three years and the only spawing event I've witnessed was bristle worms. Pretty cool, but I already have enough of them. Go luck and I hope some make it for you.
