hi guys,

My tank is 100gallons and has been running for about 7 months now. It did have a case of ICH but that is fine now. 2 weeks ago I have a spike in ammonia for reason I don’t know. I changed the water and everything was testing fine for about 1 week. Just last night I’ve notice my lawnmower blenny acting weird again and <1mg off ammonia has appeared.

What can I do or will the ammonia go away slowly?

There should be no ammonia in a fully cycled tank. Has anything died in your system? I'd suggest checking the parameters with another test kit. Sometimes you can get a false reading. The ich is a concern, as the parasite simply doesn't "go away". If the fish were not treated, the parasite has a host in every fish present. What is your lmb doing?

Ammonia issues in a 7 month old tank is unusually ... normally associated with something that has died or an introduction of a large fish. In short .. tanks bio balance is out of sync.

How much live rock do you have? how many and what kind of fish do you have in the tank? When you said you changed the water, how much? What has been the regular routine for maintenance for the tank on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. What are recent changes, additions to the tank within the last month. And, of course, check to see if you have dead snails, crabs or any cleanup crew. What kind of skimmer are you running? And any of the other filtrations you have. Answer all of these questions and we will plainly see the answer.
