Ammonia Question

I apologize in advance as this may be a really stupid question. I have the Red Sea test kit and just wanted to confirm what the readings mean. I started my cycle and I have a reading of 1.2 on their chart so I'm pretty sure that means I have a level of .12 but then in the manual it has a different reading of percentages. My temp is 87, ph 8.2 salinity 1.026. Is that the proper way to read the Red Sea kit? and why the other chart?

It reads total ammonia(NH3 + NH4) and toxic ammonia (NH3)..
You really don't need to concern yourself with the details.. Tank is cycling.. you have ammonia.. = not safe for critters

To answer the second half of the question, yes. I don't understand the ammonia question. If you have ANY it means you have (1) some sort of cycle going on (2) inadequate means to export nutrients (3) 2 + overstocked. Either of these translate to a potentially toxic environment that could harm your fish, inverts and corals. I would try to reduce these levels to 0 before introducing anything to the tank.
