About 12 months ago my wife and I bought a new (too us) home. I was forced to close down my 187g sps reef just as it was starting to take off, and transfer the few fish and corals that i wanted to keep into a temp nano.
Our new home required a substantial renovation, over 9 months we planned it, and have spent the last 3 months working on it.
Knowing that this house will be a long term home, i decided to incorporate the reef into the reno and have it "in wall" with a small filtration room behind it. The void in the wall was cut a few months back, and the tank was ordered over the weekend. The tank was obviously limited by the size of the wall, and the fact the house is two story, so with the help of a local engineer, we decided on a 42" x 22" x 24". I would have liked a wider tank, but once i get a few pics up it will become apparent why i decided to stop at 22". Hopefully it will allow me to achieve the aquascape that i am envisioning! This will be no means be a fast build, as i have another few months work left on the rest of the house prior to us moving back in, but there will be continous progress during this time. All feedback is very welcome, and i will take all your comments and suggestions onboard.
The tank will be sps dominated, and designed as low/easy maintenance as possible. I will be having the room plumbed into water and drains, the system will be on its own breaker (or two), and i would like wo be able to monitor it via phone or net as i work away a week at a time. I have decided to use T5's as my main lighting source, and will be using vortex mp40 we's for water monement. A calcium reactor will replace my dosing pumps on this tank also. Other than that i am yet to compile an equipment list.
