And then there were 8 :-(

Came home from work, and my screen had partially slipped into the water. Not much, but apparently enough. Found my McCosker Flasher Wrasse on the tile. Totally sad. I knew I had cut it a little small but left it that way for almost 2 years. I have a massive sheet of extra, so this was preventable with a pair of scissors and 5 minutes. Bad Reefer!
The active, red color will be missed. *sigh*.
Setting up the QT again. Will be Christmas before a new one can be replaced into the DT.
Cover your tanks people!

Sorry. That stinks. I still can't believe he found a way out.

Thanks, mate,
I take it personally when life under my watch fails to thrive. He was one of my 9 friends that happily existed in my care, and I feel like I failed. He was not just a random houseplant. Thinking of him gasping for air breaks my heart.
The new cover is already in place.

Tried that. But see the odd angle in the front? What to do about that?
Can't you just make it a rectangle and just big enough to cover the opening? It won't match the shape of the tank, but will be more secure than without the trim.

Flashers seem particularly motivated to find a 'chink in the armor'. Mine always seemed to find their way onto the floor even with a screen top otherwise impenetrable. Is why I don't keep them anymore.

I am sorry for your loss. It has been about a year since my McCoskers succeeded in excaping. From a tank with a full glass canopy. In my case I think when I was doing maintenance I didn't stuff the foam around the return lines back in quite right and he found a gap. He used to regularly hit the canopy hard enough to be heard across the room and jumped out when I openned the cover to feed or do a water change at least twice. I think he always in borrowed time. I only had him for about 9 months.

The solar wrasse I got to replace has not shown these suicidal tendancies.
