I am not sure if this is the correct place for this thread so please move it if need be.
So I was wondering if anyone knew a little about anemone crab imposters. I took home four anemone crabs the other day, thinking two on each anemone in my tank. I have three anemones so I figured I could work it out.
Anyway, when I got home I looked in the bag and saw the biggest of them holding one of the others up above his head and he was shaking him back and forth in some kind of WWF move. The one that was being attacked was missing all of his legs and claws. By the time I got the injured one out of the bag and into the tank, the agressor had already ripped legs and claws off of the others. He looked just like all the other crabs, just a little bigger with bolder coloration. After putting them all in the tank and some of them on my long tentacle and one on my tiny little rose, I went about my life hoping that they would hang out where I placed them.
When I got home from work yesterday, I noticed that half of my fox coral had disappeared. Later, my gf told me that she had seen one of the new crabs (the one with the red spots) eating the fox coral. As she was watching it, my big tomato clown that hosts the long tentacle, came over and ripped off one of his claws and fed it to the anemone. Then he came back and grabbed the whole crab and fed the whole thing to the anemone.
As of now, I haven't seen a single one of the four I put in there. I know a few things about these crabs and have kept them before with pretty good success in pairs and alone on anemones. Does anyone know of an imposter anemone crab that may eat corals? Like I said before, this crab looks like an anemone crab, but seemes to have brighter, bolder coloration with very distinct red spots.
