Anemone expert help needed for obscure ID

The Escaped Ape

In The Canopy
I'm not sure what the etiquette is trying to attract people from specialist forums to a link elsewhere. Not sure whether to post a link down here or duplicate the thread I made in the GRD. I'm going with the first option and hope people don't mind. I'd appreciate everyone's help with an ID question.

Here's a photo to whet people's appetites and hopefully draw you in! Plus a link below to the thread.

I'm sorry I don't have a species name for you, but they look exactly like a colony I had that came in on a piece of live rock. I wish I could tell you that I loved them, but they became a nuisance very quickly. They spread all over the tank, overrunning zoanthids and stinging the hard corals, sometimes even appearing in the branches of my stony corals. The good news is they are not hard to scrape off the rocks in one piece with a toothpick or end of a paperclip. Their foot is very firm and they don't go down into crevices like aptasia.

It is possible they are not what I had, but judging from the pic and your description, I am pretty sure they are.

Thanks Phil, that's very helpful. That's exactly what I was most worried about. In the absence of a firm ID, and with that risk in mind, I might just pass on them this time.
