Anemone feeding question

Hey guys! I just got my anemone late last week. He seems to be doing very well and ate for the first time today.

I have some flounder in my freezer that I purchased for my husband and I and we didn't like it too much. Can I feed small chunks of this to my anemone? Is he missing out on nutrients if he eats the prepared fish (no bones/scales/skin) vs. something like a whole silverside or shrimp? What about mixing the food up? Fish one day, shrimp the next time I feed....

Also how often do you guys feed? I've seen places where people have said that they feed everyday to once every two weeks and everywhere in between! Obviously if you underfeed the anemone starves...what about if you overfeed? Are there any negative repercussions?

I think that's it for now. Thanks so much!

Melissa

You could feed it small flounder chunks. I usually feed several different things(silversides, mysis, brine, squid, etc.) Feeding schedule depends on the anemone. Twice a week should be fine.

i have had the best success with frozen tilapia. i soak it in a tub that i thaw my mysis shrimp in...which seems to make the anemones react more strongly to the fish - probably "smells" more like natural food.

Tilapia are Cichlids and are sometimes brackish but never marine. I don't see a problem with feeding it to a nem though.. I feed my Carpet once a week. They can go months without food and the more you feed them the faster they grow... I'd use up the Tilapia then switch to Silversides. Variety never hurts. (I only feed mine Silversides and apparently that doesn't hurt either :) )
