Anemone Feeding

I'm a fairly new anemone-keeper. I've just been feeding mine when they look hungry, which comes out to about 3-4 times a week. They're just eating pieces of thawed krill, so it's not really that much. So far they're doing quite well. *fingers crossed!*

There are a lot of recommendations concerning feeding, but I highly recommend doing it. In general, you should feed nice, small pieces anywhere from twice per week to upward of every other day. Such a regimen can keep many species in shape enough to breed regularly.

I didn't phrase my previous post carefully--DO NOT attempt to feed anemones daily. It can cause food to rot within the gastrovascular cavity. The same can happen with large pieces of food.
Cool, I have had it for a couple of weeks and this was the first time that I fed it anything. I went to the local grocery store and got some uncooked shrimp. I cut them into a bunch of small peices and gave it one small peice. I was thinking it was going to be a lot stickier. It finally did close in on itself and eat it. I'll most likely feed it once a week for now and see how it goes. Thanks for all the advice! Reef Central Rules!

+1 ... It also depends on how fast you want it to grow. I agree that feeding daily is not good unless it is bleached. Once a week is what I normally suggest unless it is a new addition or you want it to grow faster.
How's the color? Or better yet, can you post a picture?

Even if a specimen is bleached, I still don't recommend daily feeding. If the anemone is fed sufficiently at each feeding, it often won't accept food the next day. Even worse, it could regurgitate the previous day's "catch." It's just extra stress that it could do without, IMHO. I usually start off small and gradually increase quantities as the anemone recovers, all the while observing it for a few hours after feeding to note any of the signs above.
Edit: I also should add that I don't like to use "bonsai" on these animals, which is why I typically feed them heavily. They should grow to their full potential. At the very least, IME, it leaves them enough energy and tissue reserves to be a bit tougher in case of disaster or neglect.
