Anemone for 29g???

Evyllchyld

Trying again
I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch from a 12g Nanocube to a 29g tank. Temp is just way to much of an issue in my 12g, and I'd like to do things my way since i've learned a lot more since I first started in SW. I'm going to have two sets of lights on this 29g, a 2x65w PC light, and a 1x65W PC light, giving me a total of 195Ws over 29g. I'd really like to add an anemone to this tank once its all setup and established. It would be for both my true percs. Do you guys think that this would be enough light for an anemone, and if so what type of anemone would be best for the tank???

Thanks,
-Brian

A BTA would be happy in that tank and is a great anemone for a beginner. It is not a natural host for perc but their natural hosts are really not good at all for a beginner or PC lights.

Percula are notoriously picky about hosting.

Thanks for the response. One of my percs has already hosted a BTA. At the LFS when he was on hold for 7days to make sure he was healthy, he was in a 5-7gallon tank with 6 BTAs, and really had no choice but to host, and he was in heaven! lol I really like BTA's also, I guess I'll get one of them once the tank has been established.

You could get one and it will do well if you have the right lights and parameters but it will move and get bigger so will kill corals and may get sucked into a ph if it is not covered with foam.
If you dedicate the tank to the nem and clownfish it may work but I believe they need a large tank/species tank. Consider it very carefully i have a 29 and had a bta it got huge and I had to take it back it will be a constant worry!!
This is how big mine got in about 2 months

just some advice
