hey gang I have a pair of percs that ive been trying to get a nem for and it looks like the heteractis magnifica is the best option but I cant find much info on the guys. anyone have some knowledge for me?

i think the clown will host on any anemone. just depend on which one u like. i would go with RBTA because the look better, but that's just me.

Although the above statement can be true in some cases, it is more likey you get a match with clowns and nems with natural symbiotic relationships between them in the wild.

Assuming you have true percs, the natural hosts are as you said above H. mag, and also H. Crispa, S. Gigantea, S. Mertensii.

The Mag is one of the most challenging species to keep alive of all hosting anemones, they don't ship well and are very unforgiving. They require strong lighting and very strong and intermittant flow.
The Crispa (sebae) I would say is the easiest of all 4 but very hard to find one thats not dyed or bleached.

I don't know too much about Gig's or Mertensii so maybe someone else can chime in...

if its your first anemone. get one that is easier to care for. also depend on your tank size. u dont want one that will grow to big to fast and u end up taking it up.

My percs love their RBTA's! I think a lot of less hardy anemones are constantly being imported and dying due to the misconception that they must be with their "natural host". RBTAs look great, they are very hardy, and they divide on a regular basis - thus putting less pressure on potentially threatened anemone species. It may take a little time, but all 8 of my percs host in the RBTAs now and don't even try anything else.

potential size is a concern and a 26gallon bow-front aquarium is much to small for H. magnifica, you'll do better with a bta. a small sebae is a option however mostly depending on species (H. crispa vs. H. malu), can grow large before you know it and would dominate your 26g.

I currently have a pink bulb tip that has split a couple times but my percs have snubbed it for a couple months now. I have 38 gallon tank btw thanks for the help

If you are new to keeping anemones, I advise seeking out a captive raised bta( E. quadricolor) that is at least 3 times the size of your clownfish.
