I've lost 2 anemone's in the last month by them uprooting themselves and being sucked into powerheads... Is anyone else having this problem??? Can anemone's be glued to lr like Frags??? I need help...

No, unfortunately, they cannot be glued without killing them. First of all, lets see a list of tank setup, inhabitants, and all testable water parameters (all numbers for parameters, please). Generally, when an anemone completely detaches, it is quite unhappy with the tank in general, usually suggesting a water quality or environmental problem. As far as powerheads are concerned, you can either place a sponge on the intake or make an enlarged enclosure around the intake.

It's a 55 gallon tank , I have metal halides 2 150 watt w 2 65w atc. Salinity is 1.025 , nitrate is less than 10ppm, no phospates the temp. is between 78 - 80 .

What's the nitrite and ammonia situation? Nitrates aren't quite as important as those two. Anemones won't get situated unless they're happy.

Amonia is less than 25 ppm , i haven't checked nitirtes tonight.. As far as flow i have 3 maxijet 1200's and my return pump is 600 gph...

I do not want to flame you. So I will help instead. Please do some more research and ask a lot of questions here. I would also ask you to take any corals you have back to the LFS(Local Fish Store).

I know what the levels should be..... A friend was moving and we had to start the tank up pretty fast... Now i'm dealing with the repercussions...

Your tank is cycling. It is not ready for the bioload you have.

I do not want you to think I am rude, but in the best interest of the corals, move them to a tank that is ready for them. two anemones lost in two months should say it all.

I understand what your saying... Both anemones were caught in the power heads. The lr cheato and top 2 inches of sand came from an established tank... I just have to wait it out.. I do appreciate everybody's help..

You shouldn't own animals you aren't willing to care for properly. You powerhead intakes should have been covered before you even got the anemones. Being in a hurry is no excuse to take lives. :(

That being said, it is normal for anemones to wander at first until they find a spot in your tank that they like. It is your responsibility to ensure that they won't be injured while wandering. Even once they do find that magical spot, there is no guarantee that they won't decide to move later!

the anemones should not be moving around the tank unless there is something wrong this is why they were caught in the powerhead
