Ok, first a little tank info. Started a 65 G reef tank 4 months ago, have had previous experience maintaining a 300 G FOWLR, and now working on this reef tank. Parameters are great, very consistent, and everything is thriving in the new tank. I am having a bit of a cyanobacteria problem right now but I am taking necessary steps to address it. (cyano problem is a bit of a mystery since my nitrates nitrites phosphates are 0)
Anyways, I received a bubble tip a month ago and it is doing really well. I know a lot of people would frown on getting one so early on in a new tank but it was doomed anyways if I hadn't taken it from the previous owner - I could not let that happen. Then this past week, another BTA was given to me. It is a beautiful anemone, green with pink tips and really full. I do not really want two in the tank, so I plan on moving the first one into the 300 G FOWLR and keeping the second one. I am now making the necessary mods to the 300. Until it can be moved, I have two of these guys in my tank.
The problem I am having now is that the new BTA has decided to take up residence in the bottom right corner of my tank, facing the side and directly underneath a aqueon 700 power head. I really don't want him there. He has only been in the tank for a little under a week now but it seems like he really likes this spot... he hasn't moved in the last four days. I would not mind just letting he stay there and seeing if he moves maybe later but hes underneath that power head, and I really cant move the power head because the LR is built around it. I went ahead and put a small rock on one side of him and put another small rock over him making a cave. I figure this would do two things. First it would put a barrier between him and the power head and the second would be it would force him to change directions and face the front of the tank. Is this a bad idea? and if it is, what else can I do short of physically moving him.
Thanks!
