anemone ID help

Beemo

Moved On
okee so i made the anemone plunge. i got a healthy looking specimen sold as brown bubble tip anemone.
when i put it in the tank it grabbed the rock right away however the color isnt brown, its white with pretty pink tips with a dark red foot.
after looking at pictures it looks more like a haitian condy.
tell me what you think, bubble or haitian??

i got a new pic of it this morning. it moved to the side of the rock.
i dont think its a bubble tip, im leaning towards pink tip condy. but i dont know, what do you think? it had something black and hard looking in its mouth, i hope it wasnt a tiny hermit crab. it looked like a pebble, but my tank is BB...ack what is this thing lol

lol
yeah you sure? you can tell by the base? a few people said its not and someone said it looks bleached.
do BTA's come in white with pink tips?

yes i am sure.. its a BTA, and i agree yes it is bleached.. feed it well and the white will probably turn green.. they often do have pink tips..

Sebae?? how do you figure?? there is a clear shot of the base.. where is the verrucae?? there is none, at that clearly rules out "sebae", or H. Crispa, and H. Malu..

BTA, mine is green, but does have the bright pink/purple tips also.....i'll try and get a picture. Mine doesn't however have a red base.

so i got a bleached anemone, thats bad.
it was this color right out of the bag, i thought oh cool its white lol

should i tell live aquaria?

Looks very BTA(bleached) to me.

Chances of Heteractis species are less then slim to none.

oh man, i see the pink tips. so this must have been green once? aww so it is bleached. usually live aquaria always ships with a heating pack, this is the first time they forgot :(
i can see on mine a bulb forming on some of the tentacles, so yeah your right it is a BTA. dang it lost all its color :(

Provide it stable water, direct feeding of meaty foods in small portions, the color will begin to return over the next few weeks.

Good luck and be patient.

so you dont think its dying?
can i feed it thawed frozen foods with a turkey baster?
do i aim right for the mouth?
do the feeding tentacles come out like LPS, or are those "arms" allready its feeders?
must save anemone!!

i showed it to live aquaria, they said yes it is a bubble tip, healthy but discolored. i had to scratch my head at that one..healthy but discolored? if it were healthy wouldnt it HAVE its color?

:D

Bleaching is not a death sentence, it is an indicator of prior stress.

Mysis, silversides(cut to 1cm), lancefish(cut to 1cm), krill, etc., are appropriate foods.

Mouth is in the center of those tentacles.
Tentacles have stinging cells for capturing/holding food, which is then brought to the mouth.

Hopefully it will hold it's own food. If it does not at first, try a different type; i.e. shrimp vs fish.

1cm daily to every other day should be fine at this stage.

thanks so much
yeah in the bag it looked like it threw up. there were bits of white small chunks bagged with it.
i guess anemones dont take the cold too well :(
