Anemone Light. LED light directly on top of my glass top and more queries..

I borrowed the Nano Marine & Reef High Performance LED from a friend til I get a few (LOT) more dollars together for the one I want..

I have a regular type tank (not a Fluval flat sided no lip tank.) My tank has a small lip on it and the support for this light won't fit .

Now to use this light and get maximum benefit for the Anemone I placed the light directly on top of the glass tank top. (A few fishkeepers on You tube did so.....) My tank is 12 inches deep.

1. Will it get too hot inside? it's now been running 24 + hours and seems fine, turned off 8 hours at night.. Should I turn off tank heater?

2. Will the glass stop the light rays from benefiting the Green Bubble Tip Anemone in particular is my concern.

3. What is the reason for the Blue light option. Is it for "pretty?"
or necessary for growth ?

4. How and when to use Blue light option if it is necessary for growth?

Thank you so much in advance for your wise answers..

( In second photo, its the HOB filter sticking up right behind the light )

Hopefully I can answer some of these.
1) If there's a fan on the bottom it is possible that the heat could damage the LEDs over time, if you can I would place a couple small wood blocks or something similar on the ends of the light to give some space between the lights and glass.
2) The glass will probably stop some, but not enough to make a difference as long as it's kept clean.
3) In my experience blue lights promote color, while whiter (12,000 K) tend to produce more growth.

I use a cheap Chinese LED aquarium light and keep it right on the tank cover but I use a diffusing plastic to spread the light around. (light is less than 100$)
The light is way too powerful for my 10 gal tanks so I only use it at 50% power.
It doesn't heat anything. You can put your hand on it and barely feel warmth. I would leave part of my hand on the fixture (smoking and well cooked) if I tried that on my metal halide.

There are only three settings.
White. Off. and Blue

in the " white " setting there is red, blue and white leds

in the "blue" setting there is blue and red only.

Should I set the blue lights for some hours a day to help the anemone grow?

It came with no instructions just how to stick it on aquarium and plug in and turn on off switch.
I figured out a way to flip the glass tank cover to half open and set the light so it is across the gap between tank edge and glass cover so it is directly over water. I left about 2 inches of room between water surface and tank top. seems to be working fine.

I don't know about your LED fixture but in general they cannot get wet especially with salt water.
The glass does not adsorb much visible light so leave it on to protect the fixture.

okay thanks Ray

I will set it back on top of the glass.
