Anemone Propogation Tank

Well I picked up a new tank from a lady in the town over. I drove 50 miles to find out a 150 gallon tank was actually a 40 Gallon Breeder. Anyhow, I plan to set this puppy up as a anemone propogator. It may eventually be used as a post clownfish grow-out tank to hold the juvis before sale. What I was thinking initial was lining the bottom of the tank with an egg crate. about two-three inches off the bottom with heavy supports. The reason I was to do this was for water circulation. I then would place flat rocks on the eggcrate for the anemones to attach to. I was also thinking of pulling water from the bottom of the tank through closed loop out to the top into a a 360 degree spray bar positioned slightly about the anemones. I would drill the holes as such that the flow would angled randomly. For filtration, I would somehow tie this tank into my existing system like I would a refugium.

What do you guys think about this? Anything to add? Please when responding, QUOTE ME.

When I start propogating anemones after they sit for 4-6 months, should I buy only anemone for this and split that or will a few btas from different lineages be fine in the same tank?

PS: if you are in the greater lancaster, pa area and have a mating pair of clowns that will lay them on a tile, let me know. I would like to raise them.

I don't think it's necessary to go that complex with the eggcrate and rock, in fact I keep my prop tank barebottom. I use a large amount of live rock in the sump and a rdsb for nitrate control, also run a separate macro algea refugium. I run a higher than normal flow through my sump and a 360 degree manifold to provide flow and eliminate intank powerheads.

Having your anemones attached to rocks.. even smooth ones will complicate your life alot.

It's absolutely critical to start with one animal. Having large numbers of anemone clones from different animals in such close proximity is inviting a disaster.

Best of luck
