anemone question

I want to perform a 5% water change on a 24 gal aquapod but the new anemone I put in it hangs out near the surface of the water. What do I do? Move it or it will move itself as I drain it? What would be the best method of moving it?

It won't hurt the anemone to make the water change and let it just hang there. What kind of anemone is it? If it is a BTA, it should be living in a cave or under an overhang in the live rock. Sometimes moving to the top like that is an indication the lighting is insufficient or the bulbs are too old.

yeah I wouldn't worry about letting the anemone be exposed to air for a minute or two while changing water. It'll be fine, but since the BTA is climbing the glass that probably means it needs more light. Do you have a MH or T5? If you have PC's I would suggest upgrading for better health of the BTA

Mine moved to the surface, I just let him hang there durring low tide, no problems. Afterwards he moved back directly under the MH. BTA's are pretty hardy, they have to deal with tides in the ocean don't they, your just simulating the same conditions in your tank. : )

Wow Gig 'em, your fast, a water change in a minute or two. Takes me a lot longer. Just kidding, carry on : )
