Anemone Questions

Hello,

I would like to purchase an anemone for both my pairs of clownfish(X2 ocellaris and X2 black ice) both clownfish are doing great and have been for several weeks now. Just a few questions I would like to ask about getting one. I was thinking about getting either a BTA or a Seabae anemone.

Questions

1. Would both pairs of clowns live in the same anemone if I were to get quite a large one.

2. Does the seabae tend to stay near the sandbed?

3. My tank is full of corals and I wouldn't want the nem killing them when he decides to move around, what is the best way to add these animals to a tank that already houses lots of coral?

Any other info would be greatly appreciated

P.s- I will not be adding it untill my tank is at least 6 months old

Thanks in advance, lewis :)

what size tank do you have. preferably you want a large tank for attempting to house two pairs of clowns they get very territorial. as far as having them both in the same anemone i doubt that will work out. maybe if you had a large tank and had two anemones on opposite sides of the tank the whole idea would be easier. however since they do get territorial and mean having two pairs in the tank would lead to both the females fighting to the death.

thanks for your quick response, I have a 4.5ft 55 gallon tank all parameters are perfect and has been running for 4.5 months. My ocellaris are tiny and both pairs usually do there own thing and leave each other alone.

"2. Does the seabae tend to stay near the sandbed?"

Yes, the sebae will stay on the sand and wedge its foot in between some live rock. It tends not to move once settled so should not harm your corals.

A BTA is a totally different story. It likes staying on the rocks and walks around often especially if there's a change in flow or light. It can sting corals on its journeys.

A note of caution: if you decide on sebae it's better not to buy one which is bleached. It may do well for a while but will probably stop eating and shrink after some time.

I don't think there is any best way to add them other than to place it where you'd like it to stay and hope it doesn't wander from there which is almost impossible to do with a BTA but easier to do with a sebae.
