Anemone Sensitivity

I have an unhappy clown w/o an anemone. I also have Nitrates @ 15 to 20 ppm in my 55 gal. Are these nitrates too high or is there a species of anemone that will tolerate this?

Anemones don't seem to be as sensitive to nitrates as many people would have you think. They really just need to be healthy when purchased (which entails better collecting, shipping and holding, etc.) and have basic needs met--if those are accomplished, they can be amongst the most forgiving of animals. The only issue is that all of those things aren't met more often than they should be, hence the bad track record.

Check your local reef club for someone who is selling Bubble tip anemone clones (E. Quadricolor). The cloned ones are completely acclimated to aquarium life so they are more hardy than the wild harvested E. quadricolors.
