I'm not sure who saw my thread from yesterday, but the feedback indicated my anemone may be splitting. I wanted to post more pics today. Can anyone comfirm if this is splitting, or if there are other issues I am dealing with (tank related)? Note in the photo you can see the hole that the anemone liked to withdraw in. Also note that some of the fish are awfully nosy.

As always, your help is appreciated.

it's hard to tell but if I'm not mistaken, if it was splitting, it would have already done so. Are you also saying that the anemone has moved from the hole?

It doesn't look like any that I've had split or see split.

How is your water testing out?

I can test and post tonight. They are not going to be ideal, since the 90 has only been established since Christmas, but they are not as off as a regular new tank cycle either. I tested a week ago and had no ammonia. I do not recall exactly what the nitrates were, but they were not astronomical (although higher than they should be in a month or so).

Christmas? As in a month ago? If so, that most likely is your problem. Way too soon to be adding an anemone in my opinion. Should have a stable environment. I learned the hard way and got one about 3 months into my tank.
My tanks been up almost a year and I have 2 RBTA that are doing great.

not sure what type of anemone that is but the RBTA's ive had split do so quickly.. I've actually watched it split into two before my eyes and it was only like and hour or so

I'm aware that anemones should not be added to new tanks. I had it in my 55 that was set up for almost a year. I took down the 55 to move to my 90. It is not an ideal situation, but it is not an entirely new tank either.

Mine has split a lot and I haven't ever had one take more than 2 hrs. That seems like way too long for a split

Any thoughts on that hole in the rock? What could make that? It wasn't there when I got the rock.

???? Why is it still in there? Have you taken it out and examined that rock and all of the rock around it? that is a pretty big hole to just appear???. JMHO

If you do take it out I would use a pair of tongs or gloves to remove the rock. If a creature did that to the limestone it could have a hay day with skin.

I just think your anenome is moving or dying- Take you pick. good luck
