Anemones for my 40B

I really like the look of both sebae and green or white carpet (hadons) anemone but I have some questions.

I know these both can get fairly large but are either suited for a 40B?

What are the lighting requirements for these and difficulty of care? I am running a DIY LED set up. Specs are the 40B as seen here

You will get varying answers. 1-2 haddonis are fine for long-term growth in my opinion (based on other's opinion lol).

Strong light, low flow, and weekly feedings. Best way to determine if your DIY LED is good enough is with a PAR meter.

What PAR values should I be looking for just for reference once I can get a hold of a PAR meter.

From what it sounds like a small (3-4") Haddonis will be years before it outgrows a 40B correct?

It also seems that it can be hit or miss with the haddonis and true/false percs hosting them.

You could do either in a 40.
Healthy well nourished S. haddoni grow remarkably fast. A 40b would work but it will eventually take up a good deal of the space. They don't need a whole lot of light, in general LPS level is fine, even soft coral levels can work too if fed well. Exception being for the intense green (antifreeze color) and blue ones which require sps level and or more lighting.
Pretty much the same for H. crispa sebae only they don't grow quite as fast, can take a few years to get large. Lighting would be closer to SPS levels than LPS levels.
H. malu sebae anemone stays ~6" - 8" with shorter tentacles then a H. crispa sebae anemone therefore would be easier to do a mixed reef. They do like higher SPS light and above.

I agree with Marc for the most part. IME, Haddonis don't need a lot of light. Mine were happy with LPS-levels of light. They also don't like strong flow.

By the way, to my knowledge, most white anemones are bleached. I know that Haddonis don't come in that color normally. I would not buy a white Haddoni.

Do you have or want fish?

I have a RBTA and a Rock flower that are very easy keepers. The RBTA will host. But I also have about 8 maxi mini's and they LOVE to eat clownfish. The large green one ate 3 in one week ( a maroon, a perc and an occy) as soon as I realized who was devouring them I've kept my tank fishless. Maxi mini's come in a rainbow of colors (basically anything you can think of) and are very easy to keep but they can and will eat fish.

miniwhinny, try any of the tank bred Pseudochromis spices, you'll find they're smart enough to not get eaten by your anemones.
