aneomone shrunk

Hello i got an RBTA about three weeks ago and it was doing great. However, today it started to move about and it moved up the glass near a powerhead. The powerhead is protected so I am not worried of it getting sucked in, but now it completely closed up. Should I move back on a rock? Or should I let it be? Why would it move to such an odd spot?

thanks for the help

It's still acclimating and something was probably not exactly to its liking in the location where it was. I would probably return it to the live rock, assuming that you can easily remove it from the glass without hurting it.

They prefer intermittent flow, like that produced by a wavemaker, rather than constant flow, like that from a powerhead. Even a cheap wavemaker, like the one hydor makes, is fine for the anemone. Or if you have two powerheads pointing toward one another so as to produce random water flow, that would likely work as well. Moderate flow is enough for RBTA's. Other reasons for moving, the liverock where it has its foot attached doesn't have a cave or overhang, E. quadricolor likes to have it's foot inside a cave or depression in the rock and the tentacles come out from that.
