angel question

does anybody have a Eibli Angelfish or a dwarf angel and a regular angel in same tank, I want to put a Eibli Angelfish and my majestic together one is dwarf and the other is a regular angel.

I have in the past had a majestic and a coral beauty and another dwarf all in a 65 gal in the past. That was b4 reef coral. They all got along nicely. KR

They should be ok as long as the Majectic is larger but I wouldn't recommend the Eibli in a reef. They seem to be one of the more destructive dwarf angels.

I wouldn't put any in your tank to be honest with you. I just had to redo my whole tank to get a Coral Beauty and Flame Angel out and it sucked. It took me 3 hours to catch the suckers and I would never put one in again because of the hastle. They are great looking fish, but that is just my two cents.

any of the genicanthus angels are completely reef safe. all others are rolls of the dice, some with better odds than others. some will be fine for years then nip something, decide they like it, and suddenly its treating coral like a clip with nori.

i did have a cb in a 29 for a few years without any issues but the risk isnt worth it to me anymore... which why i now have a very fat non-nipping lemark(genicanthus).

The only angel I have in my 90gal reef is a lemon peel....he is more like an orange peel in color. He is nice and he leaves the corals alone...KR

If you want a good reef safe angel try Bellus or Watanabe. I have a Bellus.

I think they are both in the genicanthus family as mentioned above.

I have a majestic I was looking for a dwarf angel but know I don't think I'm going to get one from what I've heard and read

Thanks for the info I looked at the pics and it's just not for me thanks though ,I think I'm going to try to get a Helfich firefish

Genicanthus are reefsafe for the most part but there have been some instances where that have picked at corals so nothing is 100%.
I would not recommend on for a 90g with another large angel like a majestic.
Genicanthus are planktivores in the wild and need room to swim. They are usually all over the tank especially the males.
Most Geni's are deeper water fish and divers usually pop their swim bladder to decompress them. This causes various swim bladder problems which can lead to the eventual death of the fish. If you see one having a hard time swimming don't buy it because it is more than likely doomed.
The males can sometimes be territorial towards other free swimming fish so caution should be taken when choosing its tankmates. I had a big male Red Sea Zebra Angel and he would terrorize my Regal Tang.

I have flame angels in 4 or 5 reef tanks plus one in my daughters classroom tank all are doing fine with the corals. some of them I've had for years. Although several years ago I did have a flame in a reef tank doing fine with the corals until the large Koran angel started nipping at a damaged large polup stony coral shortly there after if I didn't keep the tank heavily fed, every time I'd sit infront of the tank the flame would come look at me, hover above a fleshy coral then dive straight down and take a big nip out of it, then I would get up and feed the tank and everything was fine, the angels had me well trained.

On a sad note both that flame and the Koran angel were cooked in a coral and fish soup when my air conditioner took a lightning strike in July while we were in Alaska at my brothers wedding, The lightning didn't knock out the halides, house was 92 at 2AM and tank probably hit over 100 degrees.
