angel with popeye

I picked up a cream angel a couple of weeks ago and threw him in my QT setup. I treated one round of prazipro. During treatment the angel was, of course, shimmying and shaking and flashing. A day or two after the initial dosage the angel started to develop unilateral popeye.

Since the popeye was only on one side I figured it was from an injury that occured while flashing against things in the QT tank, though I can't figure out how PVC fittings are that sharp. Anyway, since it was likely from an injury and not another type of infection or ailment I decided to keep an eye on it and hope that the swelling would go down.

The swelling got worse. After another few days I noticed a small pink lump within the bubble of the swolen eye so I went out and picked up some furan 2. I began dosing the antibiotic but to no avail. Today will be the 4th dose of the furan 2 but the pink lump has greatly increased in size.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to course of action I should take now. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try epsom salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of aquarium water). If it's an eye injury that should at least help with the swelling. Not sure about the pink lump.

Are you certain you treated the right dose of prazi? Unilateral eye ulcer often results from irritation from a flatworm. Look up pictures of neobenedenia and see if that looks like the lumps on your fishes eye. You can also use copper (cupramine I like) or formalin( I like paraguard) to treat this parasite. Otherwise I agree you may be up against a bacterial infection from an injury glancing. I like to try the gram negative antibiotics first if I'm going to shotgun external lesions on fish. Aminoglycosides like kanamycin and gentamycin are good options.

apparently praziquantel is a recommended treatment therefore and based on the given timeline without actually seeing the fish, i'm inclined to rule out the bugger - http://fishparasite.fs.a.u-tokyo.ac.jp/Neobenedenia-girellae/Neobenedenia-girellae-eng.html reference "other information".
