Angels and LPS

Anyone keeping an angel in their tanks with LPS corals, especially open brains, scolymias, cynarinas (those more "meaty" types)?

I'm keeping a pygmy cherub angel with no trouble so far.

Some say its a matter of if, others say its a matter of when- it all depends on how much risk you're willing to take on any creature that grazes I suppose.

my brain was niped by a koran angle, my regal and my coral beauty don't seem to care for coral. I have the brain in my sump getting better.

My coral beauty doesn't bother any clams or LPS, meaty or otherwise. It also leaves the feather dusters alone. Had him for about 2 1/2 years, from a friend's breakdown. He never had problems with him either.

I have a mixed reef with a CBA and a FBA... both leave the LPS and softies alone. They may occassional munch on sps - I try to overfeed to prevent this, but they still nip occassionally.

My imperator and coral beauty are great in my reef. The imperator annoys every new addition to my tank but once a coral has been in my system for a week or two my angels go about their business of nipping everything in front of their faces, including my tangs

I've had people comming to me twice whit the stalk of a brain coral and saying what's wrong with my tank? I ask them what fish they had and the only similarities are the coral beauty. I asked one of my buddies if he's ever seen anything like this, and he said that he set up a tank for a guy and his coral beauty would leave everything except brain corals alone.

My coral beauty started to like the taste of my open brain, so I traded the brain in. He hasn't bothered my pineapple brain, frog, torch, hammer, xenia, clam, zoos, candy cane...I guess it was just the open brain that he liked.

I think it's just hit or miss. I had a flame angel a while back and it took out an entire GSP colony overnight. :(

Too hit or miss for me. Not worth the risk since open brain corals (and other "fleshy" type LPS) are probably my favorites.

You mean a 3-spot domino damsel

They sure are beautiful with great personalities I have to admit. I started out with a Coral Beauty. He's been a model citizen since. Then I added a Flame Angel. Of course I don't recommend adding 2 or more dwarf angels together. They both didn't seem to bother nothing. But I did notice them nipping a lot on the live rock though. Then I was nutts to even add a Bi-Color angel. They were quite a trio together....beautiful different colors and all. Then I noticed my aussie lords were always looking deflated, etc. I then finally saw the bi-color nipping at one of my acans. That was the last straw for him! Got rid of him, then the flame, and just got rid of the CB. I'm not risking my valueable corals to those guys anymore. Now I only have a pair of clowns, pair of madarins, a royal gramma, and shrimps, crabs.:smokin:
