Angler Not Eating

I'VE HAD ANGLER FOR ABOUT A FEW MONTHS NOW AND HE'S BEEN EATING ONLY SILVERSIDES (FROZEN) SINCE I BOUGHT HIM. HE HASN'T BEEN EATING FOR THE PAST WEEK. ALL PARAMETERS ARE OKAY AND HE LOOKS OKAY TOO. BUT HE'S NOT EATING. ANY REASON WHY HE'S NOT EATING?

THANKS IN ADVANCE :mad2:

that really is not a long time for an angler to go with out food. i only fed mine twicea week, and he grew to be fat an d happy. if it becomes like three weeks of offering food with no results, then i would inquire. is his angler up and waving?

Have you tried offering other foods fish get bored with the same thing over and over again just like we do

Although you say your water parameters are ok, do you have temp and nitrate levels?

I've have problems with my frogfishes when temps exceed 80Ã"šÃ‚ºF and when nitrates are above 25 ppm.

Silversides are a good food but I've been researching angler nutrition and am wondering if their fat content is too high for exclusive feeding. I make a few fish/shellfish/gel-based frozen diets and try to rotate to insure a more complete nutritional profile.

I think you might try a waterchange (never a bad idea) and see if he responds. While refusal to eat wont neccesarily hurt a frogfish, it may be a sign that something is wrong. They go on hunger strikes occasionally.

If his colors start fading, this might be a sign of Amyloodinium. See
