Angler question

I recently set up a tank that will be a macro/angler tank. The angler will be the only fish but if I added my pair of harlequin shrimp to the tank would the angler eat them? I can put them in the other tank with my clowns but would prefer them in this tank if possible.

Thanks.

The angler will eat them eventually,if not straight away.I would stick with one or two anglers TBQH.Post pics of the tank when set up,would love to see an angler/macro tank! :)

Will do, I will be paying for the angler this week and hopefully it and all the macro will be in by end of next week. Should be cool, I ordered the rock from gulfliverock so lot's of macro already on the rock.

You should make a build thread or make sure to update with pictures! I also want to set up a angler macro tank. How big is your tank and which angler are you buying?

Ok cool, with the clowns it is. Tank is kinda ugly right now but I will try to get pics up. It's a 24 gallon AIO. Looks like the angler will be a wart skin, bonus is it's already eating frozen and tiny.

I went ahead and brought the angler home last night. I don't think I will have to worry about anything else with him right now, he's about the size of my thumb nail.

Yeah the clowns will go into a new tank as soon as it cycles along with my harlequin pair. This guy will have the tank to himself.

He is already eating frozen mysid, my friend owns the store he was at and he is consistent with the mysid so I'm super stoked.

Glad he is eating well for you.

You could add another of the same species to the tank as well if you wanted to :)

Awww! So cute!
This is about the only angler you could keep in a community tank, and only because he's so tiny. I bet he couldn't eat anything but the amphipods!
You may want to set up some kind of temporary thing to keep him in while he's so teeny. Perhaps float a strawberry basket and just put him in there for a while? A plastic colander, maybe?
What kind is he?
I found a couple that small down at Port Aransas... Sargassum anglers. Cutest things ever.

He is a warty skinned angler.

One of the more common species. :)

Little dude is doing good, having a little trouble with eating consistently but we are working on it. Here he is doing a handstand!

That is a small hermit just coming into the photo on the left to give you an idea of his size.
