anorexic yellow tang

I bought a couple of yellow tangs two weeks ago. Both were doing their time in quarantine before being introduced into the DT.

Wednesday evening noticed that one was not eating and very sluggish. Today the one tang is almost listless. Suggestions??:hmm4:

Been doing daily water changes on the QTs. I'm still having a high death ratio for purchased fish (well over 50%). What is the norm?

Well the norm......Tough one. On a yellow tang I would hope the norm would be 0 but again you never know. Did these fish eat at all? How long has your QT been running? Does it have establised bacteria?

Until this past Monday, both tangs were eating just fine. They have been in Quarantine since their purchase on 27 August.

Now, each is in their own QT tank with Bifuran. The other tang is fine and eating well. The sick one looks like it came from a concentration camp.

These QT tanks have been operational since mid June. They get daily water changes of 50 to 80% as they are only 5 gallon tanks.

Curious to find out why they have a white stripe on each side of their bodies. Seems to change with the intensity of the lighting.

Personally I have a hard time believing that they were healthy and eating up until Monday -- that picture shows a paper thin fish, and would be very shocked if it lost that much weight that fast.

But the other one who was its tankmate until yesterday is quite plump.

This one is still eating just fine.

Bottom line is that neither go into the DT until I understand what is happening here.
