Another Anthias Mixing Question

Would it be feasible to have dispar and lyretail anthias in the same tank? I have read/searched about mixing anthias but have not seen much on this combination.

Thanks!

I'd get the P. dispar's eating well before adding the lyretails, but assuming the tank is large enough, I think it'll be ok.

Thanks. In setups with more than one type of Anthias is it still recommended to have only one male for the lot of them?

I have 4 different types of anthias in my 300G system.
They get on fine.

They are:
squamipinnus
ignatus
tuka
bartletts

On only having one male, unfortunately that you will not control.
You never know who will change and who will not.

Worst agression in my system is the male barletts sorting out a very stroppy squami. Bit of missing tail on the latter is a telltail sign of who won the recent skirmish.

Thanks! My thoughts towards the sexing was more in line with how we purchase them since once in the tank it is out of control.

We've upgraded to a 150 gallon tall--it has the same footprint of a 120 gal. tank. I am jumping into the hubby's hobby and took on the task of fish selection. I've been reluctant to post being quite the novice but I figure it is time to start or I'll never learn!

Everyone was new at some point, you're doing the right thing by asking lots of questions before purchase.

You can start by buying all females, Like Africaoffroad stated, they'll decide who becomes male. I'd guess you'll end up with males of both species.

Your tank size is good for multiple species.

Different question:

What would be a good stocking density for a 150? And what number of each (lyretail vs. dispars). The only other fish inhabitants would be two clowns and a blenny. Eventually, we would like to stock more/different fish (including a tang--still deciding which tang exactly) so I do not want to have the fish load TOO high for the system and the corals.

I am not sure about the bumping rules here so I apologize ahead of time if bumping is frowned upon... ;)

If anyone has advice on stocking, it would be greatly appreciated. We would like to have 3 lyretails and 4-5 ignitis (or dispars). Do they need to be added all at once? If we add the lyretails first, would this prevent later addition of the others?

Thanks!
