Another Canadian Reef! 600 gallon Penninsula!

Great job fellow Canadian, I'd love to check it out in person! Great job all around it looks perfect.

Amazing Project and what an awesome final product, lots of thought and process went into this build.

fantastic job on the tank, sump holding tanks everything when thought out, just makes us all very jealous as my wife would never agree to it.

Keep up the updates I will be following along.

Tony

Your tank looks great Cougarman

Wow Thats one awesome tank!

Thanks Guys. It's looking better, but not where it should be yet.

I just finished the whole thread and I gotta say this one is up there as one of most interesting here on RC. Thanks for sharing. Great job on your build.

Just an amazing build! So glad I came across this thread as I'm doing a 300g peninsula in my new house shortly. Actually we're building the house around the tank so hopefully mine turns out as nicely as yours.

Was wondering how your detrius ramp was working?

I hope to have something like this one day... Very nice!

Just found our way into your thread..... Phenomenal Build!!!

Thanks everyone. So far I'd say the detritus ramp is inadequate. The incoming water seems to prevent it from settling. I think It needs to be larger to slow the water velocity down a bit.

Hi everyone. Well its been a few months so I'll do an update on the tank. Currently the tank is doing very well my water parameters have stabilized nicely and my corals are colouring up and growing by the day.

I've been fortunate enough to get my hands on some nice corals from some fellow reefers. Large healthy colonies are hard to find. So far they are maintaining colour and most are showing growth. I also purchased some great specimens form the LFS.

I've had a few issues in the last little while. I found the output of the mag 24 I was using for a return pump was getting lower and lower. I decided to switch to a blueline pump that I had in storage. It's very noisy, but the return output has been stable. I'm thinking I may switch to a DC pump, for the purpose of power savings, once they become available.

One of my cone skimmers was under performing compared the other. Rather than buy another one, I hooked up my old aqua C ev2000 that I had from one of my older systems. So far it has more than adequately skimmed the tank, but it is a power hog compared to the cone skimmers. I may look to a DC pump for the skimmer as well.

Lastly. I've had some problems wiith my orphek LEDs. 5 of the eight have had some of the chips burn out. Fortunately the orphek rep is here in Burlington and has been able to fix a couple already. While I'm waiting for the last 3 fixtures, I've installed a 400 watt 20000k halide and two 250 watt 14000k halides to supplement for the LEDs. I think once I get the remaining LEDs back on line the corals will colour up further.

Here are some pics. I've got a lot of them, so hold off on responses til I get them all uploaded.
