Another coming back to reefing post

Ok so I’ve been out of reefing since 2006ish. I used to have 36x36x24” cube. But I see nowadays things have changed a lot with equipment and tank set ups. I see a lot of the AIO tanks and wonder how well these do as most I see have very little space for a protein skimmer. I’m looking at tanks around 30-40g

Welcome back. Love to see people coming back to the hobby. I’ve never had an AIO so, I won’t comment on those other than to say IceCap/Coralvue has some nice looking ones.

Welcome back!

Many AIO have a brand specific skimmer or may have a large enough back filter fit something like a Tunze Comline.

That said, many, including myself, don’t run a skimmer in our AIOs. My auto top off I run under the tank. Anything dosing wise the same. Some with turn the center filter area into a small fuge area or get a filter tray where they can run various media

Welcome back!
You can spend a lot or a little and end up in the same place.
You can automate all or automate few and end up in the same place.
All depends on what makes sense for you.
Enjoy
