Another crab, but not a hermit, He tried to get my snail.

So I was sitting at the computer and I turn my head and see a black claw come out and start trying to get something. So I go look, cuz I know it's nothing I put in there. It hid right away. So I set up the camera and while I'm doing that he sticks his claw out and grabs my snails shell and pulls it, he slips and hides.

So, anyone know what he is?

I'm fairly sure he's aggressive. Any thoughts?

Does it pinch your finger if you poke it? :lmao:

By the way why are you assuming it's aggressive? Are other animals missing?

Just before I started recording he grabbed one of my snails with his claws and tried to drag it into his lair. The snail is the white "blob" on the bottom right of the video, right under where the claw of doom came from.

Okay then yes I would say it is aggressive. :lmao: Maybe if you feed it it will be less likely to go after more things but that's still putting your other animals at risk. I would remove it to another part of your system if you can.

Yah, it's been quarantined so to speak. It's in a tupperware container with wholes drilled into it inside my fuge. I did feed it some betta food/flake food from my freshwater fish (thats all I have because I just started my SW and only have a CUC in there).

My girl friend says it's going back to the LFS tomorrow if we don't figure out what it is and if it has a use.

FWIW many crabs have the potential to go after stuff if they don't find what they need off the rock and sand.
I would personally take it back too, or put it in the sump if it also has LR.
