I wanted to replace my hamilton reefstar 250 14K bulbs so I purchased some new bulbs at 20K , from everything I ve read I thought they would be more in the blue spectrum however they appeared more yellowish red so I thought well ill go back to 14Ks so I purchased some new bulbs and replaced the 20Ks however these bulbs also appear more yellowish than my original 14Ks is there a differance in brands as far as color that our eyes can see or are all bulbs not created equal? My first bulbs where the original hamiltons about a year old could they have gotten much bluer over time and I not notice?

Yes it does vary by brand. It can get frustrating not knowing what the bulbs are going to look like until you buy them. The store I get my bulbs from keeps switching brands on me.

You are going to want the bulbs to burn in before deciding if you like the color or not. If I remember right they need about 100hr burn in times.

thanks for the reply i thought maybe i didnt understand aboutt the kelvin temps I'll allow these to burn in and see what happens.
