I disagree with the above statement COMPLETELY! Once you have a FIRM grasp on your tanks needs and consumption rate, there is no need to perfom continual rounds of testing. Once you get in the 'sweet zone', you'll just notice differences in your tank and those will be your cues. If you miss these cues, that's when it can be problematic.

How could he get an accurate consumption rate if he is not testing often (see his post above)? I provided information based on his original post. Plus, his tank is only 5 months old. My tank is almost 2 years old and I still test every week just to make sure.

Crud. Sorry. I meant water. lol. I get my top off water and premixed from my LFS. My bad.

Test your LFS ro/di water with a tds meter. I know several lfs that sell ro/di water that isn't clean and use the cheapest salt. Making your own salt and getting an ro/di is a good investment.
