so my yellow tang and powder blue got ich, and my other fish did not. my yellow tang fought it off on its own, while the pb looked worse and died in QT with treatment. its been two weeks with no sign of ick on any off my fish. my question is how long should i wait to add another fish? is it the 8 week rule even if my tank fought it off without any trouble at all?

All your fish have ich not just the ones that showed signs, What treatment did you use? Your DT should stay fishless and without adding anything for 8-10 weeks.

Ich is in your system even though your fish are not showing signs of it now. It will stay in your system for ever as long as you have fish in it and do not go fallow for 8 weeks+. If / when your fish get stressed and their immune system gets weakened through water parameter fluctuation or stress through aggression , ich will show up again
