Hi,
I was moving all my macro out of my 20g L fuge and into my new 140g fuge when I spotted this guy in a low flow area (obviously by the looks of the cyano)

It looks a bit like an aiptasia but it is not transparent at all. It has light brown flesh with white stripes across the tentacles. It must have been a hitch hiker on some rock I kept in the fuge for a while. Also doesn't look like a majano to me.

The width at the widest part is about 2 inches across and the tentacles are about as big around as a toothpick and maybe 3/4" long.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-- Kevin

I thought it looked a lot like the picture I found of a curly cue anemone.

I think that may be it after reading what they have to say at liveaquaria.com
"The body is opaque amber with yellowish-white spots. The tentacles turn brown to brown/violet as they go away from the body, are translucent and have spots."

Didn't find much else about them though. I guess I could play it safe and just let this thing dry out but I'd hate to destroy it if it is no threat to my reef tank.

a fish store close to me had a very similar animal pop up in their macroalgae tank, and upon trying to remove...discovered its actually a worm of some sort that buries its long body in the substrate.

perhaps that is what you have.
