ANOTHER UPDATE from Sherman Tank

ANOTHER UPDATE from Sherman Tank

In the words of Emily Latella: "Never mind!"

In the words of Marc Sherman:

I am a Pisces. I live in the grey world, not the black and white. I have a tendency to change my mind, and I have. But I have decided on a new model in running my business.

1. I have stopped answering the telephone; it takes too much time away from customers in the store and from work that needs to be done. To solve the problem of knowing what's in my store, after the 17th of the month I will have a website with a list of my fish as they come and go in and out of the store. This list will be updated as the fish arrive and leave.
2. HOURS - we have changed our hours. We are closed on Monday and TUesday to recieve our fish and give them our full attention as we put them away, and to take better care of the fish that are already here, and get the store ready to be open WEDNESDAY through SUNDAY. The hours of operation will be Wed - Fri 12 to 6pm, Saturday 10-6, Sunday 11-5.
3. I no longer do water tests. The serious aquarist should own a test kit, and I will start carrying test kits at the most reasonable price I can.
4. We no loger take checks or credit cards. I am running a STRICTLY "cash only" business.
5. WARRANTIES - ALL items will be sold "as is". I am a fair person, and if I feel it is my fault, there can be exceptions to that rule.

I am 58 years old, overweight, and need to simplify my business and my life. I want to add more aquariums to my store, and create more of a "my fish room" effect - kind of like coming to my house and buying out of my collection. I thoroughly your patronage throughout the years. Keep an eye on my list; you may find something you like! You can save some gas this way too. Wednesday, when we open, there will be a whole new collection of fish to choose from. We will send out an e-mail with the URL as soon as the site is operational.

This weekend, all the freshwater fish in my store will be half price, or will have super-specials even better! Live plants half price or better!

Thursday we had a new shipment of saltwater fish arrive. Some specials - Flame angels $39.99, yellow tangs $27.99, Flame hawks $29.99. Many other fish and invertebrates; live rock $2.50/lb.

Driftwood - 60% off! Decorations - 60% off! Plastic plants - 60% off!
Other aquarium supplies discounted form 10% to 50% off - we have a lot of closeouts

Thank you very much; I appreciate your business.

He sent out a follow up e-mail announcing a Salt Water sale on Sunday... everything that swims, crawls or sits in place.... except live rock.

Welcome back Marc... it as if you never really left us. :)

Marc's email says that the site is not yet operational. When the URL is distributed to their email list, I will be sure to post it here.

There's timing for you...just went to email and there it was:

www.justmyfish.com

It is pretty bare-bones (sort of like my site  ) There are a few blatant misspellings, etc. but we can hope that this is just release 1.0. (Actually, Sherman Tank used to have a website several years ago but obviously the domain wasn't renewed since it seems to be held by a squatter now (who is probably asking an obscene amount to buy it back.)

In answer to the above post, on behalf of Marc:

"This is my retirement store. The site will not become fancy, or indeed do anything beyond listing what I have in stock. Don't look for pictures or information beyond my stock list on the site. I am trying to simplify my life, and most days I feel too old and grumpy to answer the phone. The site also makes it easy on your gas budget - you don't have to drive down to see what I have. Just keep an eye on the site and save gas money. You are always welcome to come down and look, but I am just trying to save you time and gas."

Just an FYI. :-)

Is there something about northwest denver/westminster that prevents us from having a decent lfs? (liquid kingdom and this most recent incarnation of sherman tanks do not count)

Yeah, there isn't enough reefers up here.....bummer
I guess I can always go to Sherman tank for some mollies....doh!

I made the trek to Don's over the weekend, it was worth the drive! But, yes, we seem to have many store's in the southern end of the city compared to the north.
