another pump thread, what to buy?

I am looking for an external pump. It has to be quiet. I will install it under my 200 gal tank. I am looking for about 1000 gph on a 4 ft head. it will be under the tank so it cant get to hot. I also run 400w halides so it cant transfer to much heat into the water.

I expect to get all of this for about $200

I may be asking a bit much for 200 dollars. I am willing to spend more to avoid another purchase. I know that in this hobby you usually get what you pay for.

another question, what is the difference between a regular external pump and a sequence pump?

I highly recommend you read this thread before considering your return pump. Absolute Must

I'm in the process of setting up my new 180. My return is going to be Eheim 1260.

thanks,

I have read that thread. I am sure that I still want an external pump. I have allready went through the ehiem and mag pump stage. I am now looking for a quality external pump

guess nobody uses pumps anymore
I hear Iwakis often mentioned for external pumps. Sorry I can't help further.

I just bought a Japanese version Iwaki 30RLXT today for a return on a 225. I think I should get about 750gal ish GPH @5.5'. We''ll see how it goes. I've also heard the PanWorld pumps are very nice. My Iwaki was slightly over $200 and I think the comparable Panworld is somewhere around $50 or more less.

Based on my experience, I recommend Panworld or Blueline over Iwaki. I think american made Iwakis are loud, japanese Iwaki are supposed to be quieter, and Panworld quiter still even though they have a built in fan. I have pics and sound clips of a Panworld pump vs american made Iwaki here .

Can I ask why you need 1000gph going through your sump? I like my Panworld 50PX-X, but I'm kinda wishing I went with just a 40PX which still would have given me around 350GPH according to the head loss calculator . It would have been less expensive, and easier to make my durso / sump quieter .
