The whole story is that I ordered this from QM through my LFS as C. rubrimarginatus. I took it home before it hit LFS tanks and then realized it was not the right fish.
The first response from QM was that it was a pink margin, then a blue margin. They now agree it is a plyei. I was not positive with my I.D. and the help you all gave me here made it possible for me to address this issue with some confidence in the fact this was not C. rubrimarginatus.
My LFS and QM have been very fair in handling this mix up.
I am having the same problem with Live Aquaria. They are telling me they sent a Pink Margin and I believe it to be a Pylei. LA states they sent a Pink Margin and that is what the fish is. I sent the first picture to them and have since taken the second. I explained to them that the pelvic fins were too long for a Pink Margin and also noted the yellow above the eye. They said they contacted their Coral Farm for Id & Review. They have replied with the following - the customer order female/juvenile Pink Margin Fairy Wrasse and from the photo that is what she received.
We are happy to hear you have received the correct specimen.
So what do you think, is it a Pink Margin "Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus" or do you think it is a Pylei?
