Hey there i have a 180 with lots of tangs.

there are 5 and they are all still about 4" give or take

blue hippo
yellow
kole
vlamingi
naso

They all get along alright. sometimes the naso beats on the vlamingi a little bit.

i was thinking of adding a sohal... terrible idea?
how about a red sea sailfin?
they yellow harassed the kole for a day. im wondering if he will accept another zebrasoma species.

please reply!

thanks

I think that 5 is enough, espcially considering that naso and vlam. are going to get big. Also I dont think any of your tangs will except another added tang.

by the way, with good feedings, how fast will tangs grow?

i have had my blue the longest, about a year, and noticed little growth.

Yeah, i'd agree that you are maxed out already. I have a Blonde Naso, Blue Hippo, Orange shoulder and lieutenant tang in my 180g and that is pushing it bigtime, imo. I probably shouldnt have even added the 4th one but no way would i consider adding another one.

If i were you i would wait until you have a much larger tank before adding another tang. Like aqua said, if anything, you should consider getting rid of either the Vlamingi or Naso as they both will get big for a 180g.

You already have too many. I wouldnt even consider another, especially a difficult one like a powder brown. Unless you are going to get rid of the vlamingi and the Naso, you are maxed out tangwise. Any more and you are asking for trouble, imo.

k i already got a panther grouper who swims with them.

could i add sum damsels or would he eat them up? he is about 4"

i want some cute little fish to add more life to the tank.

I'd take both the naso and the vlamingi out, as others have suggested. But since you like tangs, and want to ad more life to the tank, how about replacing those two future big guys with a chevron tang, and a small harem of anthias, like 3 bartletts or lyretails?

I have a 240g and 4 tangs (actually 5, but it's a new blue and he's very tiny), and I consider that WAY enough. No more. One of the tangs is a Naso and they do get very large. I agree w/mrwilson...the anthias make a very nice schooling of fish!

I'm confused. You just said you wanted some "cute little fish." In any case, how small is too small for the grouper, do you think? It's pretty easy to come by anthias that are about 3" long.
