I am just curious........the type, the age, and the size from start to now or end. Behavior too.....I know jmc and reefer334 have some. Anyone have a huge humu for instance? Or large clown? Or other type?

My Pinktail is 10+, I have had it for about 5 years now (maybe 6 I will have to look back), it was 4-5 inches when I got. Eats 2-3 times per day a variety of vitamin soaked meaty foods along with greens.

This trigger survived a lion sting about 3 years ago. In the past I kept it with clowns and chromis, But this past year has been rocky with my trigger. I watched him kill a 5 inch bluethroat in seconds because the bluethroat tail slapped at him, and I suspect him in two lion (volitan) deaths.

He was in a 8' 300g tank and since the deaths has been moved to a 6' 130g sump, yet I would not trade him for anything.

Perfect post! That sure sounds like a tough trigger. Those guys have weight to their size too. Thick fish. Interesting on the growth rate as well......slower than I would have guessed, but steady none the less.

I had a 11" queen in college. I got it large and it didn't grow noticably in the year that I had it. It was nice at first and then got very mean as it settled. A clown tang tried to kill it and I got rid of both of them for bigger homes (they were in a 150G).

I also orderd a small clown trigger once. It came in at 10 inches. I never personally owned it, but it was at the store in a 180 by it's self for over a year - so I semi owned it. It would not let anything into the tank with it including heaters, hands, algae magnets, etc. This fish would eat the flesh off of your knuckles if if you put your hand in the tank. I could not keep bulkheads in the tank and the return line had to be elevated to squirt water into the tank (salt creep mess).

I got a pinktail at 7" that was a baby and probably would have been reef safe. At 9" it was a terror at feeding time and started to chase fish when it felt like it. It didn't really bit at them.... yet. I would hate to see it at 10". I had to move it on since my biggest tank is a 210G. It is on display somewhere in a restaurant.

Since you asked about a huma, I bought a tiny huma in 2000 (about 1"). I still have it and it is only about 5". It eats very, very well. I would be curious as to how old a 10" huma is. Mine has a good temperment with other fish in my FOWLR. It can eat a whole sheet of nori in about 30 seconds. In fact, if I put nori and mysis in, he bolts for the nori.

Did it keep its vibrant colors at that size?

My Pinktail has become more vibrant with size, this is pretty normal for coloring, these are beautiful triggers.

When I see him this color, Look out, this is what he looked like before killing the bluethroat.

I have a 10-12 in Hawiian/Black Durgeon. He's a total whimp & eats like a pig :) Shows zero aggresion towards the other inhabitants even when I add new fish!! I have had him for at least 4yrs now & they are VERY active! Does loops in my 260g all day long.... thus it's time for a bigger tank
