another zoa pox question

Being that my tank has come down with zoa pox, instead of just watching these things wither away and die slowly, I've decided to use some tweezers and pull out what I can. Surprisingly they have been coming off the rocks quite easily. What was once a rock that was cover in various different varieties is now bare. :( Anyways, when can I start adding new zoanthid frags to the tank to fill in the bare areas? Do I have to wait for all of the infected zoanthids to either die off or be removed before I do this?
I do still have some small colonies in the tank that seem unaffected by this from the start though. I'm not really sure what to do. TY.

WOW! Most of the zoas were infected?
I'm sorry to hear that.
That's bad!
Zoa Pox is a bacterial infection, and I would think that if the disease wasn't treated the pathogen could be in the system. If so, the remaining zoas, and the ones to come, will be eventually infected. Maybe not. But depending on how much the damage was I think I wouldn't risk getting any new ones so soon. Perhaps would be a good idea to wait until the pox is gone.

Depending on the number of polyps, would be great if you could put the good ones on plugs for now and on a shelf, allowing them to be dipped for treatment, if needed.
That's what I would do.
Good luck!

Grandis.

I was afraid you would say that. I took a small frag from my 10 gallon tank and placed it in my 20. Within about 48 hours you could see the white dots appear on the polyps.
About 75% of what I had is gone. This sucks... I guess I'm just going to have to wait it out. Thanks for the feedback. :)

All that nice growth in the background, gone. :thumbdown

I am so sorry hearing hobbyists losing zoanthous.
You could try and treat all your colonies with Furan-2 dips.
For me it was the only treatment that did good with this infection in early stages.
