Anthias ID

I am trying to save these guys from the LFS, and would like to get a positive id. I think they are either Bartletts or evansi's. The were sold as Purple Queens, but I don't think that is right.

female Purple Queen Anthias - Mirolabrichthys tuka or possibly Pseudanthias tuka. usually found here locally between $16 to $24 a piece.

They kind of look like Bartletts when it comes to body and fin shape but the color is not right. All the Bartletts I have seen are much more yellow. The color skeem on those fish almost seems the opposite.

Tom, I believe you are right. It seems all the pics of queens are of male. Now that I have seen some females, I believe that is what I have.

and I might add, almost next to impossible to keep! very very hard to get them to eat. I know TOMM has a few but very few reefers will even bother with these. they die to easy. worse track record than ACHILLES and IDOLS imo.

Female Tuka's

Very hard to keep, good luck. I have only seen a group of four survive at my LFS but they are in a 1800 gal reef with about another 100 anthias.

If you have trouble with anthias eating try some san fran. bay brand plankton. My various anthias love the stuff (no purple queens tho)
